I
know that you think that modern
science has proven that God doesnot exist. That evolution is true and that your existence on this earth is
just the result of the random chance interaction of cosmic matter over the course of
millions and even billions of years. And I know that you think that when you die you
will just pass out of existence, that your life
will be over, and that your death will be the end of things for you. But what if you
are wrong? What if none of this really is true? What if God really does exist? And what
if when you physically die your life really does not end, but you must face the
God that you have been denying?
Think About It
The tendency for you right now is to scoff at the idea that you are wrong.
However, though you are prone to do so, it's a foolish thing to do. If you will just take
a moment to honestly think about it, you know that this is an issue about which
you cannot afford to be wrong. You can afford to be wrong about some things, but
not about this. For if you are wrong about this, the eternal destiny and welfare of your
being will be far different than you think. In fact it will be disastrous and
horrifying. And the possibility of that ought to
make you very uncomfortable, to say the least.
Therefore, the only honest and sensible thing for you to do is to make
sure beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are absolutely right. You need to know that
you personally are in possession of clearly undeniable and irrefutable proof that
God does not exist, and that you will not face Him after you die. Anything less than
this is of no real comfort to you. For you know that the possibility would still exist that
you might be wrong.
It Cannot Be Done
Now at this point I know something else about you. And that is that you
cannot produce any clear undeniable and irrefutable proof. At best all you can do is
choose to believe that God does not exist. But neither you, nor any scientist or
philosopher, can actually prove that God does not
exist. And not only will any honest scientist
or philosopher tell you that, but there are plenty who fully believe in God's
existence. They know full well that modern science has not proven, and cannot prove, that
God does not exist. They are at least being honest with that fact.
Are You Being Honest?
If you are honest with yourself, and with the inherent limitations of science,
you also know that you cannot prove that God does not exist. Therefore you are now
faced with the fact that the strong possibility exists that you are wrong. Moreover you
are now also faced with the real possibility that you will have to face God when you die.
Double Jeopardy
But you know, that's not all you are confronted with. In truth you are also
confronted with another disturbing matter. And that is this: That God Himself has already given to you clearly undeniable and
irrefutable proof that He actually does exist _ but you rejected
it. Oh yes He has; and unfortunately, Oh yes you did.
Long before you ever chose to disbelieve in God's existence, He Himself
personally confronted you with the reality of Himself. And this He did just like He
says He did in His written word, The Bible. As He has the Apostle Paul say,
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all
ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for
God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him
from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by
the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that
they are without excuse: (Romans 1:18-20)
The truth is that God Himself has already personally left you "without
excuse" regarding the reality of His existence.
His "eternal power and Godhead" is
"clearly seen" from the fact of creation.
Creation demands a Creator, and you know that full well. No philosophical argument can
ever get around that. God knows that, and in your heart-of-hearts so do you. You
have simply chosen not to believe it. And in so doing you have been holding the truth
in unrighteousness, just as God says.
My friend these few words, along with the verses from The Bible that
you have just read, are confronting you once again with the fundamental light of
God-consciousness. How are you going to respond this
time? Before you answer, take one more look at the beginning of verse
18 just quoted.
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven
(Romans 1:18a)
Do you notice the issue of God declaring that His "wrath" is against
you? Once again if this is true and you are wrong, then when you die you will face the
wrath, anger, and condemning judgment of the God whom you have spurned. And you
will have no excuse whatsoever to offer. Without question, you absolutely cannot
afford to be wrong. K. R. Blades
